A "veil" of colour?

Post by kirisute »

Quick question if anyone can help?
Been reading Andrea press' Guide to paint fantasy miniatures, and in it they refer to using a " veil" of colour on various figures.
Now I've never heard that term before..but reading in context I presume it's like a glaze or thicker wash?
Can anyone enlighten me here?

I have to admit i've not heard that term either, but i'm guessing it would be a thin glaze of colour covering an area which already has paints and highlights on it which give the impression of a slightly transparent material. or the use of extra colour as a glaze to enhance a certain area. If someone else could englighten us that would be better, but that is my semi-educated guess.

Thats a fairly good guess I think, it's what sprang to my mind too when I read the description.
