They are made in a 3d computer program from what I can see on their site. Which means there is no actual sculpture. Perhaps that's why they can cast the minis both in 32 and 54mm. Anyway, the Vampire chick looks very interesting.

Yea i read on the wamp forums they have some 3d models so that their machines can scale up (or down) and using some sort of automated system to cast the models, much like a 3D photographic print on plastics as such. I remember back in my university days they were discussing some new technology which could do that quite easily actually, using lasers and photosensitive plastics :)

Probably not for quite some tiem I think. It is my understandign that the resolution of the prints still leaves a bti to be desired at the tiny scale of miniatures. Teh Future of toys.. Yes absolutley, miniatures, probably not yet but one day certainly.

3d printing can only resolve to about 1mm or so (some VERY high end machines can do better but are super expensive). This is quite crude. Even for toy making you can tell a machine printed or CADCAM product easily when you are close to it.

Well see I find myself wondering if the peopel who are going to be forking over the money for these products have any idea what they are actually getting. I do not to want to cry " dishonest ", but I DO think that the companies who use this should advertise the actual casts instead of the 3D renders. Otherwise I think they are setting themselves up for some VERY disappointed customers.
