Eltharion and SH unit WiP

Post by Galharen »

Welcome!!!
Here is my Eltharion, I painted him a long time ago and i showed it on Polish forum, but now i would like to know what do You think about it??
It's my first time when I try NMM, and 'better painting' (better details etc.).
I started with him in 'Wojenny Młot' competitions, but I didn't get high place.

I hope you like it

By the way, I would like to know what do You think about my WiP Silver Helms unit.
There're only horses now  but in next week I'll end whole unit.
I very like this colour sheme, and you??
They are painted only with tabletop quality, only to good-looking on battlefield on friendly battles (or on tourments which I going to start).

Hi Galharen! Thanks for showing him, he's lovely. :D

I think the grey of the sword could use some more highlights to improve the NMM. I won't try to say how to since I don't do NMM, but I do know it looks like mostly flat grey right now.

I think the red could probably use a little more highlighting, too. Especially look at the ties of his blindfold behind his hair. The edges get lost and could use some highlights to pick them out better.

The horses for your Silver Helms look good for tabletop quality. If you wanted to do some more, then I would say some more highlighting than they have now, especialy on the yellow and the bodies of the horses. But I think they will work very well for game play. :D

In real the horses looks better (it's late now, and it's quite dark to do photos).
Especially the rest of them have more highlighted bodies then this dark one.
Maybe it's hard to see on this photos but Eltharion's tie has been highlighted form Red Gore (GW colors) to Blood Red.

Thanks for advice - the next mini I'll paint it will be Selafyn or new HE hero with sword - of course better then Eltharion, of course MASTER CLASS :D :D

Eltharion is nice, although the previous posts have picked out good points. I would add, that the base is too flat. You could add more highlight to that gray, then you could decorate the whole thing with little details, like some hanging moss on the sides, dirt here and there, little puddle between the stones, etc.

The horses turned out quite well for tabletop, keep us updated :).

Hey, The cloak on Eltharion needs to be toned a little and I think the base needs kicked up a notch. endrem said it best "little things" to detail it out. Good job for your first nmm. I am new at it too :)

Horses good.

Thanks for your answers.
Next time I try do better bases.
And here is my question - what bases would be the best choice for those Silver Helms??..
I thought about some static grass, stones and sth like on Eltharion's base.

as I (probably) said on polish forum for me Your elf hero is too bright... but I generally don't like minis painted in bright fashion
as it was said - You could add some more shades: simple washes could improve it's look a lot;

and about cavalry - nice job for tabletop quality; whole army completed with this standard will present very nice on every battlefield :D
