Interview with Razza

Hello everybody!

Inspired by Illusionrip and his idea of interview with Jeremie "Bragon" Bonamant I decided to continue this journalist project. A painting community is full of very talented and also characterful personalities. But as an ordinary observers lurking over internet on their magnificent works we could only dream to meet them one day and chat a little. Thats why I think the idea of interview should go on as through this simple questionaires we could find more about our hobby and people who are making it.

I asked one of my favourite miniature painters to take part in our intervierw project nad he agreed. But I will be pleased if you write here some questions that you want to ask him also. For about a week I will be collecting all questions and then ask our star

DARREN LATHAM aka Razza

Darren is mainly a miniature painter, for over 7 years his a member of the famous `Eavy Metal group which works within Games Workshop. Apart from his job for GW his also a freelance painter and several Golden Demon winner (as a member of GW he can only compete within Open category)
From recent news woth saying is, that he won a very hard competition inside EM for the best Harry the Hammer version.

If you want to ask him a question than write it in this topic up to 13th May. The completed interview will be published on Chest of Colors website at the end of May in two language versions: English and Polish.

What inspires his choice of colours for the various minis besides their background or is that the sole inspiration for the selection?

I have a question, a serious one, what does one need to do to become an Eavy Metal painter? Yeah, paint more and win Golden Demons, that I know. But is there a specific style you need to stick to? Or just be good, creative and original. What could he advise? Do they often recruit new painters and how does it work? Thanks Szary.

Sources of inspiration: Reallife examples or artwork, or maybe movies, or fluff?
Time needed to paint one of such minis?
How long have you been painting?
Do you only paint GW miniatures?
Do you have any particular favorite miniature painters?
Do you only paint high quality stuff or also some lower quality miniatures?
Are you only a painter or also a gamer? In case of the second option - which was first: painting or gaming?

Some more. Does he even bother and take part in any competitions since he is so good?

And as Przemas asked - what do you do to paint so clean, sharp and smooth? Does he add anything to his paint (like non GW products?)

thats wone hell of a weird question. i run the 100m in 8.5 seconds...but why bother with the olympics i would win them anyway...lol
