At begging: Hi all ;)
After a year and half of reading Chest of colors forums, I have decided to post some of my work.
It's dwarf from a dwarf's bold thrower. I'm using him for colors scheme testing(skin and hair).

Finished: skin, green clothes, and apron.

So, what do you think?

I think you're going in the right direction but the beard could use some highlights and the skin on his pointing arm could use a bit shading near the bracelet. Ow and by the way where are the eyes ?? :]

where are the eyes
dwarven bolt thrower crewman does not need eyes, he surely has some devices made by engineers, which help him to hit target. Something like steam targeter :P

Kragg - welcome and have fun here! As for your work - it's hard to judge it properly, not much can be seen. Have you got pics of finished models?

Beard is painted in base color only.

Too much to do in too few time. I have run out of spare time ;)

I see now that pictures aren't very good. I'll try to do some better pics tomorow. (So, this mini is also a subject for camera and lenses tests).

But I can see that you're able to paint smooth surfaces and blend well. The green tunic shows that.
The skin is also technically good but still a bit flat. The beard is just basecoated, right?

Not to mention the eyes, unless he uses mental sight ;)

And last but not least: welcome :D

better, but I think it still needs more contract between shades and highlights.

Still lacking contrast. It's normal that people have to get used to stronger contrasts and need to overcome their timidity as far as shading/highlighting. Neat, clean, but still too flat...
