created a photo studio with a cardboard box and some aluminum foil... works quite good IMO

That's way better, looks pretty easy to do also. Cardboard, tinfoil and a backdrop printout of your choice?

it is much easier then the gradient background. thats why i switched but im still not sure i even want to take pics of my minis im always just discouraged when i post on cmon

is tinfoil the correct word for that type of foil?

I think it is. I thought it's alluminium foil, but as people call it tinfoil it must be the name ;)

2. what kind of lamp/bulb?
3. where do you aim it?
4. colours are different on different pics. which are true?

1. yes
2. a desktop lamp with a u-shaped white light, somewhat like this one: https://www.servicelighting.com/General- ... Light-Bulb. Check the first picture
3. the light is located a bit higher than the figure, aimed towards the figure. You can see this in the first picture I guess.
4. I don't think the colors are that different... I think the real thing is somewhere in between...
