So things we need to agree on:
1. type of contest:
a) IP type - long run (more rounds or kind of league)
b) normal contest with 1 category (or maybe more?)

2. contest/round theme:
a) company based (one company only? what about next editions - other companies?)
b) we choose theme ourselves (if yes how?)
c) paint whatever you like

3. choosing the winner
a) jury (who? )
b) only the entrants vote
c) all CoC vote
b) public voting on main site

4. how often do we want to have such an event?

standard contest. IP is a very, very specific contest. If we make something similar here, we'll look like all those companies selling non-marines
also, IP requires quite a serious commitment from participants (at least those advancing to following rounds). not sure if we are ready for this.

how many categories? I'd say - just one. see if there is any interest, if people not only discuss but also paint for the contest. if there is, we will have a food for thought for another edition of the contest.

company based contests are WAMP speciality. I also agree with Mahon that we should first establish a reputation before we contact possible sponsors for such events. It doesn't mean we can't ask few companies if they would like to sponsor somehow a general contest.
themes - I'm against these, unless they are very general and are not part of the judging system. Seasonal contest theme is ok for me, very specific "IP" themes are not.

I can accept all options
a) is easy, I'm sure we'll find people on the forum which will not be able to participate but will be happy to take a judge position.
b) is ok, though c-d) are better as they make larger number of people involved in the contest, even if they didn't paint entries

Normal contest with 1 category as a start, see how it goes and with how many participants we will end with. I would go for a single category with either 28-32mm or 28-54mm with no base restriction.

Either jury or voting among CofC members although with the restriction that one can't vote for his own miniature.

Seems we have some nice ideas here. Guess I'll work on something more consistant mixing everyone's ideas and will post it. If you have suggestions guys (not talking about money prize or sponsors (unless you're one and willing to do it of course ^^) post them, feedback/suggestions etc are always good cause there is always more in two heads than in one ^^

Yeah, hehe of course. I'll try to work on something and will post for this week end. Bit busy atm at work and not time when at home
