With the Halloween and Harvest season right around the corner, it is once again time to kick things off with, to date, our most popular contest, The Rotten Harvest!
Round about the paint pot go. On the palette throw
royal blue and blood red. Thirty-seven Days of Dread;
Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and paint pot bubble.
The contest will run from September 25th through October 31st and during that time competition entries can be submitted. At the close of the contest, voting will commence for one week where you will be allowed to vote anonymously through the Wyrd forum software as well as leave comments and critique which we have found our previous entrants have greatly enjoyed. After the voting, announcements will be made and prizes sent to the winners, along with the random prizes that we give away with every contest.
The specific rules for the contest can be found on the Wyrd Miniatures website on the forums under 'Wyrd Painting Contest: Rules and Information'. I would really like to stress folks to read the rules, as folks tend to miss them for some reason and they end up misunderstanding the contest, the theme or disqualify themselves.
Due to the sheer number of people that have entered unedited photographs in the past we will no longer do any editing for you. There are many free photo resizing programs out there. Wyrd staff will attempt to notify anyone who's pictures were deleted due to size or for any reason, but can not guarantee notification.
The categories for the contest are:
Witches and Warlocks Spellcasters of all sorts, from high fantasy, modern day dabbler to the far sci-fi future. If they carry a wand, cast a spell or even have a hint of mysticism to them, this is the category for them.
Not Quite Dead Yet Still stumbling around after all the major organ functions have shut down? Have a beef with the living? This category is for the Undead, or as they like to be called 'Living Impaired'.
Things that go Bump in the Night Creatures, critters, monsters and other things that have a tendency towards anti-social behavior and prowl the night looking for victims. Caution, here be Monsters!
The Trick or the Treat This is our catch-all category as there are some miniatures that are just right for the theme but just don't seem to fall into any other category. Zombie Hunters, pumpkin characters and I'm sure several miniatures I never would have even contemplated.
The Harrowing Harvest A diorama with two or more miniatures locked in combat, or something as equally disturbing.
Wyrd Miniatures will be supplying prizes and gift certificates for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of each category, except for Best of Show and Best Base or Diorama as that category has only the one winner. We'll also be offering a 'Best of Wyrd' manufacturers prize for the best Wyrd Miniatures entry, which is a $100USD gift certificate on top of any other prizes or categories you may win
WYRD PAINTING CONTEST RULES AND INFO
Every contest needs rules and this one is no different! Pay attention please as we don't want any hard feelings or disqualifications due to rule bending/breaking. If you have a question, ASK!
In order to participate in the contest you must create an account on the Wyrd Miniatures website in order to submit an entry and to vote in the polls which will decide the winners of the contest. You are encouraged to enjoy the forums and participate, but it is NOT required in any fashion in order to enjoy the Wyrd Painting Contest.
When participating in the competition, you must submit a miniature that is in line with the current THEME that is being hosted. There will be several themes throughout the year so if one theme doesn't catch your interest, perhaps the next one will.
The work must be yours alone, no passing off of someone elses work as your own. You CAN submit a miniature that someone else has converted or sculpted for you though - just not painted, based .. etc.
You are allowed to submit MULTIPLE entries to the contest. As many as you can paint, you can submit though you can only place once per category (you can win in multiple categories, just once per category). Please, when submitting though, indicate which categories you are submitting for as well as the manufacturer and name of the miniature. Each miniature can only be in ONE category for the competition. I reserve the right to place a miniature in the proper category if it is not stated or is 'misplaced'.
The miniature can be from any manufacturer, or a custom miniature you have created yourself as long as it lies within the current theme. Conversions are allowed and encouraged.
The miniature cannot have been displayed in any form elsewhere on the internet or published mediums such as magazines. All contest entries will be displayed anonymously so as to give no one person an unfair advantage (this isn't a popularity contest) and thus there can be no signatures or watermarks upon them. No announcing on forums, webpage, blogs or any other type of medium about the type of miniature that you will be painting, nor concept sketches.
The categories for the contest will likely change from theme to theme as well as the possible number of categories should the subject matter allow for it.
When photographing and editing your pictures, please submit them in .JPG (JPEG) format, with a file size of no larger than 300k. Photographs can be no larger than 800 pixels wide. I'm not much worried about length as it will allow you to fit in angles of the photograph. If you send me a photograph that doesn't fall within the limits prescribed above, I will ask that you fix this as otherwise your entry will not be accepted.
Miniatures can be submitted any time during the contest though none will be showcased till the day after the final submissions date. Submissions will be accepted up till Midnight, EASTERN U.S. time, on the closing date of the currently running contest. Submissions after the cut off date will NOT be accepted, no exceptions.
In order to submit an entry for the contest, go to the current contest gallery and upload your entry. As the gallery is set for moderation, your submission will NOT show up immediately but will instead wait for me to review and edit accordingly. When submitting your contest entry, please take the time to describe the miniature and its manufacturer as well as any other contest notes you wish me to review before editing.

At the closing date of the contest, the submissions will be published to the proper contest gallery, anonymously, and the voting will begin.
In order to vote, you must be a registered member of the website.
A poll with your choice of winners will be presented to you where you select your favorites, one poll for each category. While viewing the contest submissions in the gallery, you will be allowed to leave comments and critique on the entry. Please try to be constructive with these comments, as they will be published publically once the voting is completed!
Voting will be open for seven days immediately after polls are posted for the contest.
Winners of each category will receive prizes and random entrants will be selected for the 'Random Schmuck' prize. Please, do not request a particular item, as that is the quickest way to not receive it.
Should there be any questions, or if anything is unclear, PLEASE take the time to ask in the forums as that is the quickest way to receive clarification on a subject as well as bring it to the attention of others.
